Shirley Sexton

Class Teacher / KS2 English Lead / Artsmark Lead, St John Fisher Catholic Primary (Ealing)

About me

I began my teaching career as an Art and DT specialist teacher in my children's primary school, having previously worked in Human Resources and training in the Arts and Retail sectors. After gaining my QTS I have worked in different year groups in KS2, and have always been very passionate about the arts and the important part they play in children's development and education. I have been art subject lead in both of the schools I have worked in, and in my previous setting led the process to achieve Artsmark Gold. I am now in the process of completing the Statement of Intent in my current school.

This year I am keen to build an arts network in my local area to help deliver CPD and share good practice, and also to further investigate the role the arts can play in raising reading attainment.
