Aisling Fahey - New Young Poet Laureate for London

Renowned poet Lemn Sissay yesterday appointed 21 year old Aisling Fahey as the Young Poet Laureate for London, at a reception at the RSA on National Poetry Day. Aisling's role will provide comment and reflections on current events across the capital throughout the coming year, as well as working with communities and London based organisations to inspire and inform through poetry. For 25 years poet Warsan Shire lived in a part of London but felt like an outsider in the city. Now 12 months after representing the capital as London's first Young Poet Laureate (YPL) she said she feels pride for the city and part of it. Read more

Pathways: preparing a photography portfolio

A free 12-week Saturday course (for 16-24 year olds) for people who could use some extra support in preparing their photography portfolio for a college or university application. Read more

Immersive techniques in the classroom

Punchdrunk Enrichment and Hackney Learning Trust will offer a series of twilight inset sessions to accompany Punchdrunk’s innovative Prospero’s Island literacy project at Petchey Academy. The sessions are principally aimed at secondary teachers, although sessions would be of interest to primary specialists and anybody with an interest in innovative arts. Read more
