Hosted by Stella Barnes (Arts Consultant, Researcher, Participatory Artist and Theatre Maker), you will hear from artist Nic Golightly who works in collaboration with Blue Cabin. Nic will discuss her experience working in direct delivery with care experienced children and young people, and what ethical participation looks like in practice for a creative facilitator.
Lung Theatre will discuss how they use ethical participation in the communities they work with to make hidden voices heard, including in their current production at Southwark Playhouse: The Children's Inquiry.
The Care Experienced Movement (C.I.C) will share their insights about what ethical participation means in terms of creating inclusive spaces for participants and facilitators. CXM are Care Experienced Activists: “We come from all walks of life, with differing experiences of the system. We all want to use our diverse lived experience of the care system to not only create and push for positive policy change, but to create a platform and support network for our community”.
This Masterclass will give us a chance to reflect on:
- What ethical participation means
- What ethical participation in practice looks like
- Including people with lived-experience and young people in co-design
- Holistic pastoral support for all participants including facilitators
This event may be particularly relevant for anyone who:
- Works with care experienced children and young people
- Works with refugees and vulnerable children young people
- Develops creative programmes for children and young people
- Is an artist or cultural organisation working in delivery with children and young people looking to develop their inclusive practice
