This paper explores the process of developing a partnership project between two special schools, a primary school and Graeae Theatre Company in 2005-6.
Graeae, a disabled-led theatre company, aimed to create a project to encourage young people to engage their imaginations and gain greater understanding of accessibility issues and disabilities.
The outcomes from the collaboration include the opportunity to share work across schools and the development of respect for people with disabilities and learning differences.
The essay details the challenges for the arts organisation to engage schools as partners, with honest reflection on the ways to develop this process in the future.
