Enhance your knowledge and understanding of how to choose and use picture books across all Primary Key Stages to increase children’s motivation and attainment as independent readers and writers.
Venue: Centre for Literacy in Primary Education, SE1 8QW
Time: 9am - 3:30pm
Detail of activity:
This Masterclass will be delivered by an expert advisory teacher from CLPE in partnership and with Viviane Schwarz, to support participants to enhance their knowledge and understanding of how to choose and use picture books across all Primary Key Stages to increase children’s motivation and attainment as independent readers and writers.
Through a range of interactive activities, we will investigate how well-chosen picture books, specific teaching of how illustration can be read and thoughtfully planned activities can increase children’s comprehension of language and engage children in deeper response in reading. We will also develop an understanding of how picturebooks can be used to develop children’s own use of language as well as a clear understanding of narrative structure; inspiring them to write creatively and independently.
