Remote working may be new to some of us office-bods, but the concept of having a job that relies on just you, a laptop and an internet connection have been keeping companies alive since the 80s.
From tech development to teaching, data science to design, there are hundreds of jobs out there that you can do from the comfort (self-isolation) of your home. And to help you find them, we've got together a list of some of the best out there.
We're not ashamed to say it, we love The Dots. One of the fastest-growing social platforms for creatives, The Dots if often dubbed 'the LinkedIn for the creative sector'. And it's no surprise when they've got roles from AKQA to the V&A, as well as an events hub and thriving community. They've now added an option on their job search to find remote-only roles. Do you see why we love them now?!
People of Colour in Tech (POCIT)
Led by Michael Berane, successful podcaster and one of the coolest voices disrupting the tech sector, POCIT defines itself by connecting people of colour with jobs in the tech industry. A partner on our Future Startup Now programme, POCIT has been telling the stories of people in colour since 2015 now has a dedicated page for remote job listings.
Probably the largest platform for finding and listing remote jobs, We Work Remotely was one of the first on the scene. Today it gets 500 new positions posted every month and visitors come from 99% of the countries in the world!
A truly female-led platform that lists roles from trusted female-friendly companies. As well as some great listings from companies like Wordpress and Stripe, Remote Woman has a Podcast which tells raw, real stories of women working remotely and a private Slack community of women helping support women around the world.
As well as bloomin' cute doggo as a company mascot, Remotive's tech-focused platform is super easy to use and navigate. It also has a Slack community - this one is paid, but they've halved the fee to support remote workers during Covid-19.
As much for freelancers as remote workers, Guru allows companies to post a job, get it done and then pay in a very simple, seamless way. It's also very trusted by freelancers across the world to protect their rights and work. You'll find a real mix of roles across digital and data but also roles for illustrators, assistants, artists, and interior designers.
Offering a simple. no registration needed, approach for job seekers, SkiptheDrive has a real cross-section of companies listing with them across nursing, administration, recruitment, tech, and marketing. Companies include Adobe, American Express, Google and Zapier.
