Young Londoner of the Year goes to Raiché Mederick!

Create Jobs couldn’t have felt more like proud parents when Raiché was announced as Young Londoner of the Year 2016 last week. As we watched from the crowd, we realised just how much this amazing lady has flourished with every step she has taken.

Sir Harvey McGrath, Trustee of the Mayor's Fund for London and Chair of the Judges said:

"Raiché is a great example of a young Londoner who has shown resilience and bravery in making the most of the opportunities London has to offer.”

For those who haven’t had the pleasure of meeting Raiché, here’s what Oliver Benjamin, Senior Programme Manager at Create Jobs, had to say about Walthamstow’s finest young woman:

"I met Raiché in the Walthamstow Jobcentre in May 2015. She struck me then as a passionate, young professional and immediately we wanted to work with her. That summer, Raiché joined the Creativity Works: Festivals and Events programme that we deliver on behalf of the Mayor’s Fund. She visited Glastonbury and met Michael Eavis, produced a film night on rooftop in Dalston, and got immersed in event production. Raiché is ambitious and very driven. She’s been a real joy to meet and work with and I was very pleased to hear that the Mayor’s Fund for London awarded her with the Londoner of the Year. She deserves it”

Since graduating Creativity Works, she has kept extremely busy and managed to get a place, and a bursary, at the popular Cato Academy, following her passion of event production/management. However, she always found the time to attend our alumni events and spread the Create Jobs/Creativity Works cheer and we’ve loved seeing her friendly face at every event!

She had these kind words to say:

Raiché now plans to establish her own charity for burns survivors aged 18+, a cause very dear to her heart after suffering from severe burns when she was younger. Her charity aims to help the burn victims through their trauma and into recovery.

“We’re really proud to have worked with Raiché on the Creativity Works: Festivals 2015 Programme and then later as Create Jobs Alumni. It’s brilliant to see her get the recognition she deserves to platform her hard work, and her exciting Charity Venture The R-Chaie Foundation. Raiché’s entrepreneurship, spirit and ‘never- say never’ attitude is an inspiration to all young Londoners.”

We wish Raiché all the best in her future and know that whatever she endeavours to do, she will achieve great things. Create Jobs will be behind her every step of the way - cheering in every crowd!
