A New Direction hosted the London Arts Award Development conference 2014 which brought together advisers from across the region to support the delivery of Arts Award. The day was split into two parts: in the morning, practical sessions, workshops and the latest Arts Award updates from A New Direction and Trinity College London. In the afternoon, we hosted a World Café event for advisers and other partners to come together, create new networks and plan ways to deliver Arts Award across London.

In the morning delegates were able to participate in two workshops from the following four themes:

  • Making the most out of Arts Award Supporter

  • Arts Award with special schools

  • Developing innovative approaches to Arts Award Gold and Silver

  • Ways to make Arts Award work with larger groups

In the afternoon, we opened the conversation about Arts Award to a wider network of partners, and supporters, to inform and develop our strategy for Arts Award in London.

Making better connections
: We explored different ways that schools, arts organisations, and local authorities can come together to share practice and deliver Arts Award.

Developing quality
: We focussed on the delivery of Arts Award, and explored how it links to Arts Council England's seven quality principles for work by, with and for children and young people.

Targeted work:
We explored the opportunities for Arts Award with specific groups; and thought about ways that Arts Award can be used to support more children and young people through the arts.

Progression routes:
We promoted different ideas and new routes for young people to progress through the different levels of Arts Award, and explored new ideas for developing leadership and artistic practice.

We have now made available the presentations and notes from the day. For any further information or enquiries please email us arts.award@anewdirection.org.uk
