Take your pupils to see an immersive art experience or to visit the Royal Academy of Arts

A New Direction is working in partnership with Frameless and the Royal Academy of Arts to offer two gallery experiences for London primary schools and SEND settings.

Frameless - Immersive Art Experience

Delivered in partnership with Frameless, your class will be able to experience some of the world’s greatest works of art, presented in ways never seen before.

Frameless is an award winning multi-sensory immersive art experience in the heart of central London, where visitors can experience iconic world-renowned masterpieces as they’ve never been seen before.

With 4 main galleries featuring 42 masterpieces from iconic artists such as Van Gogh, Monet, Cézanne and many more, accompanied by a carefully curated soundtrack, the Frameless experience is sure to leave your class spellbound from the moment they step inside.

Frameless are also offering a one hour twilight online CPD session for teachers supporting the visits.

The Ultimate Immersive Art Experience is suitable for KS2 children. You should allow for around 1 hour in the galleries.

Teacher Twilight CPD: Tuesday 11 June, 4pm – 5pm, online.

There will be a one-hour online twilight session delivered by Frameless for teachers supporting the visits. The aim for this session is to be fun, supportive and enjoyable so that teachers are well-prepared to facilitate a meaningful experience, as well as to benefit your creative classroom practice.

Royal Academy of Arts - Young Artists' Summer Show

Located in the heart of London, the Royal Academy of Arts is a place where art is made, exhibited and debated. They offer a range of free activities and resources to support teachers, students and young people to engage with art and artists, both at the RA and back in the classroom.

Delivered in partnership with the Royal Academy of Arts, your class will be able visit the Young Artists’ Summer Show (YASS) an exciting opportunity for young people aged 4–19 to exhibit their artwork online and at the RA.

This experience is open to children in KS1 and KS2 and you should allow for around 30 minutes in the gallery.

Now in its sixth year, the Young Artists’ Summer Show is a free, open submission exhibition for young people aged 4–19 studying in the UK. Artworks are judged by a panel of artists and arts professionals, with selected artworks displayed online and on-site at the Royal Academy of Arts. Teachers may also like to extend their visit to the free Collections Gallery which is just upstairs from Young Artists' Summer Show.

The Royal Academy of Arts is located at Burlington House, Piccadilly, London W1J OBD. There is a second entrance on 6 Burlington Gardens, London W1S 3ET. (map). We recommend entering via the Burlington Gardens entrance if you are visiting the Young Artists’ Summer Show.

Teacher CPD: AND is not running a teacher CPD. The Royal Academy of Arts are running a CPD workshop on Friday 21 June, which they will be promoting via their newsletter going out on Tuesday 21 May. You can also book via their website. Bookings will go live around 3pm that day. Early booking is advised.
