FUSE: Havering

Transforming the lives of Havering’s children and young people, and promoting the value of culture in education

Havering is recorded as the fourth least culturally engaged London borough and third least able to access hyper-local publicly funded culture. Consequently, children and young people face many barriers to access arts and culture and engagement is low. The Havering Local Cultural Education Partnership aims to bring together education and cultural partners together to transform the lives of Havering’s children and young people, and better promote the value of culture in education.

In order to achieve this, the LCEP will:

  • Implement an action plan that responds directly to the needs of Havering’s education and cultural partners
  • Ensure creativity and culture feature in the lives of all children and young people in Havering
  • Pledge to actively engage Havering’s most under-served and underrepresented children and young people
  • Promote and deliver impactful, unusual, real life enrichment experiences
  • Connect students to industry, employers and specialists in order to promote andencourage creative careers, challenge stereotypes and raise aspirations
  • Embrace diverse models and approaches by engaging with local communities and those not traditionally included in cultural strategy conversations
  • Embed creativity across the curriculum in Havering.

This partnership is receiving Challenge London Legacy Funding.
