What is Flipside? 

Flipside is a three-month programme led by some of the world’s leading Digital Design agencies that introduces you to the basics in digital product design.

Designed and created by the Good Growth Hub, Beyond (BYND), Made by Many, Normally, Designit and ustwo.

What you’ll get

Format and Locations

This course takes place over 12 weeks*.

Sessions take place 3 days a week, Monday – Wednesday, 10am – 5pm.

A combination of online and in-person sessions take place across London:

  • Beyond, 60 Great Portland St, W1W 7RT
  • Ustwo, 154-158 Shoreditch High Street, E1 5HU

This course is designed to help you to access paid work with resilient careers.


Who you’ll be 

We’re not looking for a specific set of qualifications, rather you will demonstrate creative problem-solving skills, be curious and love to learn, have the drive and commitment to gain a career in digital design. 

  • You will have interest and basic knowledge of design software’s (InVision) editing tools (Adobe), familiarity with design techniques (prototyping).
  • Have strong attention to detail, the ability to multi-task, project manage including time management and scheduling, ability to work effectively within teams, and a hold a creative mindset. 

Eligibility and Application Support

Who can apply?

Essential

  • Aged 19-30.
  • Living in a London borough*.
  • Interested in a career in the digital design sector.

*Priority given to those Living in/ from the London boroughs of Tower Hamlets, Waltham Forest, Hackney, and Newham.

Desired

  • Creative problem-solving skills.
  • Interest in learning, or basic knowledge of, design software (InVision) and editing tools (Adobe).
  • Familiarity with design techniques (prototyping).
  • Skills in teamwork, project management, time management, attention to detail, and multitasking.

Application Support

No prior qualifications, experience, or education are needed to be eligible for this course. However, you must evidence an interest or passion for gaining skills or a future career in digital product design.

  • Group Interview Selection Day on Tuesday 10 December 2024 where you'll take part in a collaborative group task, meet the team, and have a chance to ask any questions. Please note that we are unable to offer alternative group interview dates.
  • Flipside starts on Monday 6 January 2025
  • Flipside ends on Wednesday 26 March 2025

Flipside was created by A New Direction in 2018 and takes place at theGood Growth Hub. A group of leading agencies commit to teaching the core Flipside curriculum. They take the participants through a series of modules that teach them the basics of digital design. These modules take place at each agency, initiating the Flipsiders to agency life. Agencies supporting Flipside 2025 include:

Flipside is delivered as part of the Skills Bootcamps for Londoners for those aged 19+ to progress into work by giving them access to in-demand skills training and a guaranteed interview for a more sustainable, higher-skilled job and higher wages over time.

This programme is delivered by the Good Growth Hub – a creative careers hub in East London run by A New Direction. Part of the London Legacy Development Corporation’s plan to connect businesses surrounding east London’s Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park with local talent through a wide range of employment, skills, and enterprise activities and programmes. The Hub is funded by the LLDC with investment from the Foundation for Future London, through the East Bank Partnerships’ New Talent Future Leaders programme towards the growth of STEP and other projects. The Good Growth Hub is operated by A New Direction.
