I live outside of one of the East London boroughs, can I still apply?
This programme has been developed by the London Legacy Development Corporation as a direct legacy of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, for people who are from the neighboring boroughs of Hackney, Newham, Tower Hamlets or Waltham Forest. It has been designed to support local residents who have lived or who grew up in these boroughs.
STEP develops and platforms the talent of local young people. We're tasked with supporting people from East London, because of our connections to employers and support services here.
If you live in other London boroughs, you may be eligible for other Employment and Skills programmes, please see here.
Or, if you live outside of London but looking for opportunities in the creative or cultural sector, check out some of our peer organisations including: Creative Industries Federation, The Dots or Lecture in Progress' Opportunities Board, or Run the Check.
I’m not within the age range of 18-30, can I still apply?
Whilst our events and some opportunities are for people of any age; this programme is for people aged 18 to 30. This means you must be within this age bracket when the programme starts. If you're not within this age range but looking for opportunities in the creative sector, check out our opportunities board or book one of our Creative Connect sessions.

What is the selection day?
Should your application meet the requirements for the programme and be on the shortlist, we’ll invite you to join us on our selection day. Our selection days are the second round in recruitment and give us a chance to get to know you better. These sessions will involve a group task with other applicants, where you’ll collectively respond to a creative brief. This is an opportunity for you to demonstrate your collaboration, communication and creative skills.
You’ll also have a chance to ask us any questions about the STEP programme and understand more about careers in the creative and cultural sectors we have on offer.
The selection day will be followed-up by an individual interview between you and the placement partner you’ve chosen.
Can I apply for more than one placement?
We ask you to select a first and second preference placement. Please take your time reading through the placement options available through STEP this year, before making your application to the programme.
I’ve been on a Good Growth hub or Employment and Skills programme before, can I still apply?
Absolutely! You can apply for any STEP placement if you’ve taken part in a past programme or not. Simply make sure to mention your involvement in the respective programme when writing your application.
