• About THE FACE

  Launched by Nick Logan in London in 1980, The Face is the original, definitive style magazine.

  From the beginning it was a cultural trailblazer, covering music, fashion, film, TV, society, politics and global current affairs. And it covered them with invention, innovation, wit and class – and not to mention with groundbreaking graphic design.

  The gallery of cover stars is as eclectic as it is iconic: from Kate Moss to Alexander McQueen, New Order to The Stone Roses, Grace Jones to David Beckham, Beyoncé to Björk. The talent behind the stories was legendary, too, as the magazine worked with the best writers, photographers, stylists and designers in the world. The Face didn’t only report on the culture. It became the culture. For over 25 years, The Face was at the heart of British and international creativity.

  Now, in 2019, The Face is reborn. A new team with a new vision for a new age, but proudly retaining the magazine’s founding vision and core principals. A forward-thinking, multi-platform title staying true to Logan’s pioneering spirit.

  The Face will continue to champion fresh talent in music, fashion, TV, film and beyond; fly the flag for provocative, rigorous, long-form journalism; and celebrate the best in style and graphic design. It is a space for immersive, dynamic, multi-faceted stories. It is a space for fun, passion and enthusiasm.

  Relaunched and reimagined as theface.com in April. Resurrected as a quarterly print magazine starting with the September issue.

  The Face is back. Still original, still definitive. Endless discovery for a new generation.

• About Moncler

  Moncler, founded in 1952 by René Ramillon, takes its name from the French Alpine town of Monestier-de-Clermont. Equipped for extreme weather, the brand cut its teeth producing quilted sleeping bags and tents, as well as the quilted jackets originally intended to keep workers warm on the slopes. Counting the French national downhill skiing team as patrons, Moncler was bought in 2003 by Italian entrepreneur Remo Ruffini, who re-introduced the Moncler quilted jacket as a marker of superior style on and off the slopes. Gaining cult status for its lightweight down jackets across men’s, women’s and children’s styles, a Moncler jacket is designed to keep you warm and dry without unnecessary detail. Alongside its main line, the collaborative Genius Project eschews bi-annual runway shows in favour of creative capsules with a contemporary undercurrent.

• Responsibilities
  • Attend a 5-day research trip in Milan, attending an event, being briefed on the Moncler project and getting to know the team.

  • Follow a 6-week programme of modules designed to give a 360 crash course into the process of a creative concept and pitch. You will get to know our team, everybody from our stylists, to our music editor, and work alongside our editorial, commercial and creative teams on our day-to-day tasks.
  • Partake in weekly projects and feed into wider editorial/commercial output.
  • Fulfill a creative commission set by THE FACE and Moncler, to come up with the creative concept for the Moncler Genius campaign in Spring 2023 still lifes, lookbooks, and videos and creating mock ups and tests for the campaign., to be submitted to Moncler for production and internal and external communication on Moncler’s channels.
  • Support the concepting phase for campaign development by researching images for still lifes, lookbooks, and videos and creating mock-ups and tests for the campaign., to be submitted to Moncler for production and internal and external communication on Moncler’s channels.
  • Produce and direct a piece of video content documenting the programme and your journeys, to be showcased on THE FACE’s channels.

  All four mentees will visit Moncler for 5 days at the beginning of the programme, where they will have introductory sessions in the Moncler offices and join a Moncler event. For the rest of the programme length, they will work with THE FACE, in London, on the project alongside Moncler.

• Requirements

  We are looking for four mentees:

  • Aged 20-25
  • Have some experience making or producing content in a creative field (i.e. photography, design, publishing or fashion - this doesn’t need to have been paid)
  • Interested in visual storytelling using different multimedia formats
  • Demonstrate a keen interest in the evolving media landscape and what it takes to contribute to a leading publication like THE FACE in the 2022 climate and beyond
  • Demonstrate a keen interest in the fashion industry, and keen to gain hands-on experience alongside the Moncler team
  • We are more interested in your motivation to learn and aptitude for creativity rather than your educational background, but would like to see some evidence of your interests.
  • We are looking for candidates from a means-tested, under-represented background.
  • Have entrepreneurial skills and a strong work ethic
  • Committed and available for the whole project from September 2022 - February 2023 (full dates above)
  • Will require an up-to-date passport for travelling to Milan
