Our Cultural Ambassadors programme is a weekly skills development programme for Deaf, disabled and neurodivergent young people, to develop their understanding of creative employment, and what opportunities are open to them.
The group take part in workshops, Q&A’s, visits and activities that develop their confidence and employability skills. The programme is a partnership with AFK, a charity who support disabled young people towards independence and employment. This year's sessions are run by Jo Paul, our lead facilitator, and supported by Parag (Cultural Ambassadors alumni) and Pippa.
The programme’s four aims are:
- To develop skills in creativity, communication, teamwork, problem-solving and independence.
- To enable the Cultural Ambassadors to become leaders and role models.
- To support readiness for future work-experience opportunities and employment
- To enhance knowledge of the roles and opportunities available in the creative and cultural sector.
Currently the group are busy preparing for our I Am Festival, where they will support schools to engage in the festival activities as well as showcasing their own creative skills by delivering co-designed activities at the Tate Modern.
