Aiding Recovery: Arts Award and wellbeing - 8 July 2021

How can Arts Award support young people to process their experiences of the pandemic ?

In this session we will;

  • Explore how the arts can help children and young people to process their experiences of the pandemic.
  • Join creative practitioners in a series of short practical sessions (see below for further details)
  • Find out how the Arts Award qualification can be a framework to help generate confidence, enable self-expression and ultimately wellbeing
  • Hear inspiring examples from schools and cultural organisations

Please note; for this session we will be framing activities around the Discover framework

Practical sessions will be led by;

Artis - who will be sharing their Bounce mental health programme and top 10 activities to promote mental health in schools.

Bounce Theatre - who will be sharing their approach to using zines and podcasts to explore mental health with young people.

Filipa Pereira-Stubbs - will end the session by inviting us all to create a dance together!

Who is it for?

Teachers, representatives from the cultural sector, and arts practitioners working in London. You do not have to be a trained Arts Award Adviser to attend this event.

NB. This session is designed for participation and attendees will be asked to have their cameras on where possible.

What is Arts Award?

Arts Award is a range of accredited qualifications on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), that support anyone up to the age of 25 to grow as artists and arts leaders, inspiring them to connect with and take part in the wider arts world through taking challenges in an art form - from fashion to filmmaking, pottery to poetry.

A New Direction supports Arts Award in London by running pilot programmes and delivering training and support for Arts Award Advisers.
