Creativity Works is our series of industry-co-designed intensive creative courses for young Londoners aged 18-24 who aren't in education, training, or employment. Each course in the programme nurtures a specific creative skillset over a period of 6 or 12 weeks; from podcasting, audio production and filmmaking, to set design, digital content and photography.
The curriculum is co-designed and co-delivered with the most exciting emerging and established London-based creative practitioners, contributing via guest lectures, masterclasses, technical skills-based workshops, inspirational bite-sized industry talks, informative panel discussions, brand briefs, and the occasional creative field trip to their studios. The programme generates fresh new networks, pathways, knowledge, and the confidence needed to get paid work and sustainable careers across the creative industries.
These courses are always free to attend and equip participants with the key creative tools, software and networks to have a full learning experience, including offering a loaned MacBook Pro and Adobe Suite, plus a small grant to cover expenses during the course duration.
No previous qualifications or experience is needed to get onto a Creativity Works course, whether you've just finished school, college, or university, or exploring a shift in career. Up to 80% of course alumni go on to paid employment or further training in the creative sector.
Creativity Works was first launched in 2014 as a Mayor's Fund for London programme. The courses are delivered as part of the Skills Bootcamps for Londoners for those aged 19+ to progress into work by giving them access to in-demand skills training and a guaranteed interview for a more sustainable, higher-skilled job and higher wages over time. Supported by Citi Foundation and the Greater London Authority (GLA). Delivered by A New Direction, this programme takes place at the Good Growth Hub.
