Thinking, learning, and priorities from our ‘place-based’ initiatives

When we talk about ‘place’ we mean focussing our work on specific localities, which allows us to start from young people’s lived experience in an area and consider the multiple factors that might affect their capacity to be creative.

A New Direction has been involved with a number of ‘place-based’ initiatives over recent years, including our work with Creative People and Places, London’s Cultural Education Partnerships, and through programmes in which we have invested through our London Cultural Education Challenge.

In this strategy we’ve aimed to share some of our thinking and learning in this space; about our context in London – through data drawn from a range of sources - and ideas for approaches to this work.
