Creativity Works is Mayor’s Fund for London programme supported by the Berkeley Foundation and Citi Foundation and delivered by Create Jobs at A New Direction. For the duration of September to December 2020, the Mayor’s Digital Talent Programme is funded through LEAP, with support from Stride. Creativity Works: Photography is also funded by Arts Council England with in-kind support from Fujifilm.
The courses provide pre-employability support and training whilst simulating the world of work through virtual work placements.
Across Autumn 2020, the Create Jobs team have supported 99 young Londoners aged 18-24 with practical workshops, industry insight with core aim of supporting and progressing participants into paid work.
The aim of the courses is to create opportunities for participants to learn about sub-industry sectors, meet like-minded peers and develop networks and discover their own net-worth.
Across 4 main cohorts the focus was on:

‘We’ve been blown away by the work in such a short amount of time. Some of the work I’ve seen today is so strong, if they continue in this trait they’ll continue to get paid work and make personal work’

Write Your Legacy 3D virtual exhibition
As part of the Creativity Works Photography programme, and under the guidance of Magnum photographer Newsha Tavakolian and Magnum nominee Hannah Price, twenty-four photographers aged 18 to 24 were invited to respond individually to an open brief set by Reebok.

I genuinely wouldn’t have got to the end of a podcast project without accountability and support and inspiration. I now know that I can do a whole podcast off my own back so with that knowledge I'm planning lots more! It’s like my ideas have all been freed

What a great programme you guys put together - those young people are so lucky to have such a good resource. Honestly, it was much better than many of the university courses that I've been asked to speak at in the past.
Ruth Fitzsimons MD Podfront Uk (Wondery)
This is utterly brilliant and by far the most interesting thing I've done all week. Please let me know if I can be of any further support with the participants, they are a very engaged and talented bunch

Content Production
with Blackshuck Films, Untold Studios, Stink Films.
Creativity Works: Content Production is a collaboration between Create Jobs, Reebok and industry partners. Over six-week, 25 young creatives took part in workshops, interactive talks and masterclasses from industry leaders including Untold Studios, Stink Studios, Stink Films, Blinkink, Black Shuck Films, Barcroft Media, Black Dog Films, Factory, Meji Alabi, Leonn Ward, & many others to hone their directing, producing and storytelling skills. Throughout the programme, participants developed filmed creative responses to their brief from Reebok ‘Write Your Legacy, How Do You Want to Be Remembered?’
Collectively titled ‘Write Your Legacy’, these 90 second films - shot entirely on mobile phones - are those responses. Together they show the perspectives and expressions of a generation of film producers and content makers at the vanguard of London’s creative scene.
'This course has come at just the right time for us all and been like a ray of light in a dark tunnel that's been 2020'
"I wish a course like this had existed when I was starting out. Digital technology and innovation have afforded us so much opportunity. I'm optimistic about the future, there's never been a better time to become a filmmaker so go for it!"
"What a great group. I really enjoyed giving the talk & their questions were really considered & fresh"
