Last summer,
eleven London schools piloted the new award and gave positive feedback about
the ‘forward-thinking’ and ‘inclusive’ approach to assessing and developing the
provision of arts and culture in their settings.
Interim case studies showed the impact of Artsmark on whole school improvement.
James Dixon Primary School in Bromley noted:
‘Artsmark has been the key to driving the arts provision in our school. The award ensures that the arts are embedded in our delivery of the national curriculum.’
In the next few months, A New Direction will be supporting schools interested in applying for Artsmark. We will be introducing the award at our schools conference on Tuesday 13th October and at our Discover Artsmark sessions to be held in every London borough. We will also be running the Development Days that are the first step on the Artsmark journey.
For schools that hold Artsmark already or those that are new to the award, Artsmark Officer Lynne Brackley is available to offer further information and answer your questions. Email Lynne or call 020 7608 2132.
