Knowledge Transfer and Artistic Practice

A New Direction has been working with Birkbeck College, University of London's Research Centre for Media, Culture and Creative Practice to develop a Knowledge Transfer Partnership Research Project.

3 May 2011

As part of this project, our resident Research Associate Sarah B. Davies has been working alongside her colleagues Dr Ben Cranfield and Dr. Kate MacKenzie-Davey at BirkBeck and the A New Direction team to produce a paper on 'Knowledge Transfer and Artistic Practice'.

The paper will be presented at the National Knowledge Transfer Partnership Conference taking place on Wednesday May 11 2011, at the University of Brighton and its main focus is - Engaging with Change through Creative Process and Product by exploring:

  • how a creative organisation responds to and feeds into the change process
  • the different stages of change for a creative organisation
  • the value and role of partnerships in a model of creative change

As well as the conference presentation, Sarah is also currently planning an exhibition for early July bringing together all her research in the form of an installation including an archive of research and a debate and discussion space. More details about the exhibition will follow shortly, however click here to find out more about the Knowledge Transfer Project and to access Sarah's blog, Sarah Thinks...
